BioAngie Chan is a Costa Rican composer and piano teacher currently living in Kansas City. She is interested in musical activism, chamber and electronic music, and the symbiosis of music and painting.
Some of her notable works include her electronic piece titled El Sueño (2016) which received an honorable mention at the International Composition Competition La Metafora de los Sonidos. In 2019 El Sueño was included in El Aprendiz exhibit at the Museum of Central Banks in Costa Rica by award winning artist Adrian Arguedas. In 2016 her illustration artwork premiered in the documentary Freedom is Written in the Stars on Indiana's local and state PBS. Some of her other works include the violin and piano duet Reminiscence (2016), the fixed media piece I want to know what goes on in your head (2016). In 2018 she was commissioned to write a piece for award winning percussion ensemble Arxduo. The Conversation Suite, a multimedia electro acoustic work was premiered at the 1900 building in Kansas City in 2021. In 2022 her piano trio Monet's Piano Triptych premiered live in Kansas City by the award winning New Ear Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. |
